du hosts 6G R&D meeting to accelerate next-generation connectivity and drive ecosystem collaboration

du, the leading telecom and digital services provider, hosted the Q3 2026 UAE 6G R&D Subcommittee Meeting at its Dubai headquarters, gathering operators, researchers, technology partners, and government entities to advance the nation’s next-generation connectivity roadmap.

As the UAE accelerates its trajectory toward becoming a global hub for digital connectivity and advanced technology, the meeting provided a dedicated platform to review strategic priorities, share research updates, and align on future standardization efforts. The program featured technical presentations across five core focus areas: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), Broadband and Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), Security, and Standardization.

Chaired by du Infra, the gathering brought together key institutional contributors and steering committee members including the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA). The event featured conversations and research contributions from leading UAE universities and industry pioneers, demonstrating the strength and depth of the nation’s research ecosystem.

Saleem Alblooshi, Chief Technology Officer at du, said: “Next-generation connectivity requires structured collaboration between industry leaders, research institutions, and regulatory bodies. Hosting the UAE 6G R&D Subcommittee Meeting reflects du’s commitment to shaping the future of communications and positioning the UAE at the forefront of global 6G innovation. Bringing together the brightest minds across our ecosystem, we are accelerating the transition from theoretical research to impactful, real-world technologies that will define intelligent digital societies.”

A key highlight of the event was a series of live technology demonstrations showcasing emerging 6G solutions and future use cases. The interactive showcases featured groundbreaking innovations presented by du and its partners, including New York University Abu Dhabi’s High-Speed Secure LiFi demo—the first 100% prototype made in the UAE—alongside Khalifa University’s RF-GPT and Mobile-GPT models. du also unveiled milestone solutions, including the world’s first AI-CPE, the world’s first Wireless CPE, and a landmark LiFi FAW innovation developed in collaboration with pureLiFi. The demonstrations gave attendees a tangible look at how intelligent, sustainable, and ultra-responsive networks will transform industries, enterprises, and consumer experiences in the decade ahead.

Beyond technical advancement, the meeting highlighted how R&D and infrastructure innovation can serve as strategic growth engines for du. The cutting-edge demonstrations and discussions showcased the potential to unlock new revenue streams, accelerate digital transformation, and strengthen du’s position in next-generation technologies through continued industry-leading innovation.

With active participation in regional and global research initiatives, du continues its investment in technology leadership, research infrastructure, and strategic partnerships, helping build a robust foundation for the UAE’s digital economy and future connectivity ecosystem.
