The SAMENA Telecommunications Council, the South Asia–Middle East–North Africa (SA-ME-NA) region’s leading industry association of telecom operators, service providers, technology providers, and digital ecosystem players, has announced that Opensignal®, a global provider of independent insights into consumers’ connectivity experiences and choice of carrier, joined its members ecosystem earlier this year.
Opensignal’s decision to join the SAMENA Council reflects its focus on enabling mobile and broadband network operators, regulators, financial analysts, and other telecom-sector stakeholders to analyze how users actually experience connectivity. As markets across the SA-ME-NA region continue to invest in mobile broadband, fixed broadband, 5G, 5G-Advanced, and digital services, real-world network experience insight is becoming increasingly important for service quality improvement, network investment planning, market assessment, and regulatory dialogue.
Opensignal brings to the SAMENA Council community practical experience in measuring and analyzing mobile and broadband network performance from the user perspective. Its insights help operators benchmark performance, identify areas for improvement, understand competitive positioning, assess network performance claims, and assess consumer decision dynamics. For regulators and policy stakeholders, Opensignal’s work can support a more accurate understanding of quality of service, coverage, consistency, reliability, and the user-level outcomes of network development.
Commenting on the membership, Shawn Heidel, President of Opensignal’s Network Experience Division, stated that “the SA-ME-NA region is an important connectivity market, with operators and regulators placing greater emphasis on network quality, user experience, and the measurable impact of infrastructure investment. Joining the SAMENA Council gives Opensignal a valuable platform to engage with regional telecom leaders, contribute independent network experience insight, and support discussions on how mobile and broadband networks are measured, improved, and understood across the region.”
Through the SAMENA Council, Opensignal will be able to draw attention to key data-analytics findings and engage more closely with regional operators, participate in industry dialogue, gain exposure to and contribute in creating policy and regulatory perspectives, and contribute to discussions where network experience, service quality, and infrastructure performance are central to mobile and broadband market development. The membership also supports stronger visibility for Opensignal among telecom and digital infrastructure stakeholders across the SA-ME-NA region.
Welcoming Opensignal, SAMENA Council CEO Bocar BA stated:
“Opensignal brings valuable expertise in real-world network experience measurement and connectivity analytics. Its ability to provide independent insight into how users experience mobile and broadband networks can support operators, regulators, and industry stakeholders in making better-informed decisions on service quality, coverage, consistency, reliability, and investment outcomes. This is highly relevant as SA-ME-NA markets continue to invest in mobile and broadband network development.”
Opensignal’s membership reinforces the growing importance of real-world network experience insight in telecom development. As broadband, mobile services, cloud access, digital applications, and data-intensive digital services place greater demand on network quality, reliable measurement of actual user experience can help strengthen service improvement, regulatory alignment, investment confidence, and customer trust across the region.
