France Télévisions to launch francetv sport digital channel

France Télévisions is launching a free digital channel, francetv sport, on france.tv, extending the public broadcaster’s online sports offer following the performance of its digital coverage around Paris 2024 and Roland-Garros 2025.

The channel will offer a linear-style stream alongside live coverage and exclusive programming outside event broadcast windows. During the Olympic Games, it will carry live coverage each day, beginning 4 February with the start of the curling competition.

“In 2025, 60 million French people watched sports on France Télévisions. With this new free digital channel accessible on france.tv, we wish to continue our role as a public service in favour of free and universality for all,” said Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez, director of antennas and programmes at France Télévisions.

An interactive feature, branded “the live zone”, will allow viewers to discuss events with presenters and analysts via an on-screen chat.

Alongside the Olympic coverage, francetv sport will also carry major events including the Six Nations and the Coupe de France. France Télévisions said the channel will remain available until 2030, with a target of around 2,000 hours of live content in 2026, including sports output from its regional and overseas services consolidated into a single catalogue.

The planned line-up also includes new documentaries, magazines and youth programming, including Vendée Globe, alone around the world, Roland-Garros, between the lines, Rally 82 and a second season of La Fontaine’s games.

France Télévisions has also signed two co-broadcast partnerships with Sport en France and Eurovision Sport, aimed at expanding exposure for women’s sport, including French basketball and volleyball championships and the Women’s Football League.
