Maxis enhancing fiber coverage in East Malaysia with CT Sabah deal

Malaysia’s Maxis has announced a deal with Celcom Timur (Sabah) under which the pair will collaborate to provide greater access to fibre connectivity to residential and business users in Sabah state, through the provision of High Speed Broadband (HSBB) network services. In a press release regarding the development, Maxis said that under the contract it will gain full access to CT Sabah’s fibre-optic network to offer fibre-based connectivity to more premises in the state from 1 November. Meanwhile, Maxis will also reportedly have access to the latest hardware and software technology on a 24/7 network monitoring system as part of the deal, as well as access to CT Sabah’s technical support staff to assist customers in managing network transmission.

Commenting on the development, Maxis CEO Gokhan Ogut said: ‘At Maxis, we have a clear ambition to be Malaysia’s leading converged solutions company, and we have an important role to play in driving higher broadband adoption and have made significant investments in this area. Our partnership with CT Sabah is another significant step forward for us in fulfilling our converged ambitions, and I would like to thank CT Sabah for helping us make this a reality, not just for Maxis, but for the people and businesses of Sabah as we look forward to rolling out our attractive fibre plans here to more homes and businesses.’
