Open Fiber launches Bitonto FTTH rollout

The Open Fiber wholesale-only venture of Italian utility giant Enel and state lender CDP has announced an agreement with Bitonto town counil to bring FTTH services to the southern locality in an investment of around EUR 6.7 million. The company said 16,000 homes in Bitonto will be able to access gigabit broadband services after it completes the rollout of 770 kilometres of cables in around 18 months’ time.

The wholesale provider passed the milestone of 5 million connected homes throughout Italy at the end of last year and has confirmed plans to bring FTTH connections to around 19.5 million homes and businesses in 271 of the country’s major cities plus over 7,000 smaller localities by 2022.
