Location data provider Navteq is supplying Navteq map and location content for Nikon's Coolpix AW series of digital cameras. The AW100 is a digital camera with waterproof, shock-proof and cold-resistant specifications. In addition, the device is also equipped with a number of features including GPS support, an electronic compass and a map display. Unique to the AW100 is the ability for users to view their exact location on the map display that comes pre-loaded within the devices. Both devices are equipped with built-in GPS functionality that allows geo-tagged images to be pinpointed via PoI data supplied with the Navteq map. Thanks to the millions of locations included within the Navteq map, the AW100 will recognise the location and display it, either as longitude and latitude, or by place name. With the integr ation of maps and location content in the AW100, users can geographically organise their photos, allowing them to identify the exact location of where the photo was taken and when. The AW100 is available globally except China and South Korea.
