TiVo ups global IPTV households 7% to 3.42 million

Xperi continued its upward momentum in video-over-broadband distribution, securing critical renewals and upping its third quarter (ended Sept. 30) global IPTV household subscriber base almost 7% to 3.42 million from 3.2 million households in the previous-year period.

The expansion was driven by two key achievements: Extended multi-year video-over-broadband agreements in North America with long-standing partners Hotwire and Armstrong, while securing expanded commercial commitments.

In addition to the DVR pioneer accelerated market momentum across Canada with four new internet service provider (ISP) client acquisitions, including FlexNetworks, IGS Hawkesbury, Uptern Communications, and Xplore.

Meanwhile, advertising and related revenue growth surged 282% to $14.9 million from $3.9 million, serving as the primary catalyst for doubling media platform revenue to $17 million from $8.41 million year-over-year.

Key operational highlights in the quarter included MediaMarktSaturn, Europe’s largest consumer electronics retailer, which selected TiVo as its Smart TV OS partner. Expansion of the TiVo OS to 11 OEM design partnerships, in addition to Element Smart TVs launched across U.S. online retailers.

Overall, TiVo One monthly active users topped 6.8 million, while average revenue per user grew 14% to $7.65 from $6.71 last year.

“Our success in building the TiVo One footprint has begun to drive substantial growth in advertising and related revenue,” said Xperi CEO Jon Kirchner.

The company also announced that CFO Robert Andersen would retire as part of a planned transition. Anderson will continue in his current role until his successor is on board.
