The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development awarded a Southwest Virginia technology company more than $2.4 million for a fiber-to-the-premises network.
A $2,405,739 grant will go to IGoTechnology, Inc. (iGo) to fund the construction of 25 miles of fiber in Dickenson County, according to a news release from Congressman Morgan Griffith’s office.
The work is estimated to benefit more than 300 people in the county, including 14 businesses and two farms, according to the USDA Rural Development.
The release states that iGo will establish a community center in Haysi for residents to use free high-speed internet.
