By August 2026, Vietnam’s 5G subscribers surged to 27.2 million from just over 14 million in September 2025, an impressive increase of approximately 94%.
As of August 2026, Vietnam’s fixed broadband speed reached 301.48 Mbps, ranking 8th out of 149 countries and territories, while mobile broadband hit 219.93 Mbps, ranking 9th out of 102.
By comparison, during the same period in 2025, fixed broadband speed stood at 250.45 Mbps (ranking 13th globally) and mobile broadband at 151.69 Mbps (ranking 18th globally).
In just one year, fixed broadband speed grew by about 20.4%, while mobile speed jumped by 45%, resulting in a significant boost in international rankings.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the fixed broadband speed of 301.48 Mbps reflects the successful outcomes of investments in fiber optics, transmission networks, and access network upgrades. Meanwhile, the rapid increase in mobile speed highlights the profound impact of successful 5G commercialization.
The ministry emphasizes that the Internet is no longer merely a technical infrastructure, but has become the foundational driver for socio-economic growth and development. IPv6—particularly the IPv6-Only orientation—is viewed as the core platform to expand connectivity spaces for people, data, devices, and intelligent systems.
Rising from 65% during the first nine months of 2025, the adoption rate of IPv6 climbed to 67% by September 2026, maintaining its 2nd position in ASEAN and improving its global standing to 7th worldwide.
Additionally, the number of ".vn" domain names reached 703,236—a 5.7% increase year-over-year—demonstrating a growing online presence among organizations, enterprises, business households, and citizens alike.
