Disney+ is to introduce an advertising-supported subscription tier in Austria in November 2026, expanding its offering in the market to three options.
The new Standard with Ads tier will be available alongside the existing Standard and Premium subscriptions. According to Disney+, the new option will give subscribers greater choice while also opening up the streaming platform to advertisers in Austria.
The advertising-supported model is not new to Disney+. The company has already introduced the subscription option in several other markets, including Germany, where Disney+ offers a Standard with Ads tier.
“The introduction of our advertising-supported subscription option marks an exciting new chapter for Disney+ in Austria,” said Eun-Kyung Park, Senior Vice President, Direct-to-Consumer & Networks & Country Manager Germany, Switzerland and Austria, Disney. “It offers subscribers even more choice and, for the first time, gives advertisers in Austria the opportunity to reach audiences in our premium streaming environment.”
Disney+’s Austrian service offers a growing catalogue of films, original series and other entertainment, as well as live sports. The platform brings together content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, Hulu, FX and ESPN.
Upcoming titles include FX series The Shards, City of Blood and the second season of Chad Powers. Further premieres include Coven Academy, the eighth season of The Kardashians and Yacht Deals Monaco.
Disney+ also offers parental controls, including content restrictions, PIN-protected profiles and dedicated children’s profiles.
Details of the pricing for the new Austrian advertising-supported tier were not yet provided. In Germany, this subscription costs €6.99 per month.
