The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has clarified that a maximum of five SIM cards can be registered against a single CNIC in Pakistan.
Once the five-SIM limit is reached, no sixth SIM can be obtained using the same CNIC, according to the regulatory framework.
The restriction applies to the registration of mobile SIMs against an individual’s Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), aimed at maintaining proper control and verification of mobile connections.
Citizens who already have five SIMs registered against their CNIC would therefore need to deactivate or transfer an existing connection, where applicable, before obtaining another SIM.
