Zain Bahrain has launched a next-generation Internet of Things platform through its Zain Business division, giving enterprises a centralised environment for activating, monitoring and managing connected SIMs as they scale IoT deployments locally and internationally.
The platform combines connectivity management, access controls, real-time monitoring and analytics within a single interface, targeting businesses that need to manage growing fleets of connected devices.
Zain Bahrain said the service is designed to reduce the operational complexity associated with deploying and maintaining IoT connectivity while giving enterprises greater visibility over their connected assets.
Unified platform targets IoT management complexity
The new platform provides enterprises with a central dashboard through which they can manage their IoT connectivity.
Businesses can activate SIMs directly, monitor connections in real time and access analytics intended to provide greater visibility into their IoT operations.
The dashboard can also be customised according to enterprise requirements.
Zain Bahrain is providing 24/7 access to the platform, allowing customers to manage connectivity without relying on manual requests for routine SIM administration.
Automation capabilities are also intended to simplify SIM onboarding and lifecycle management.
The company did not disclose the specific IoT connectivity technologies supported by the platform, such as NB-IoT, LTE-M, 4G or 5G, nor did it provide details on pricing, roaming coverage or supported countries.
Enterprises can manage IoT deployments at greater scale
Connectivity management becomes increasingly important as enterprise IoT deployments expand from relatively small numbers of connected devices to larger distributed fleets.
Businesses need mechanisms for activating and deactivating connections, monitoring their status and maintaining visibility across potentially large numbers of SIMs.
Centralising those functions can reduce the administrative overhead associated with individual device connectivity and help enterprises deploy new connected assets more quickly.
The platform's global scaling proposition could also be relevant to companies operating IoT devices across multiple markets, although Zain Bahrain has not detailed the geographic reach or partner arrangements supporting international connectivity.
Zain Business expands enterprise digital portfolio
The launch forms part of Zain Business's wider focus on supporting enterprise digital transformation in Bahrain and the region.
Ali Mustafa, Chief of Business & Wholesale Officer at Zain Bahrain, said the platform would enable enterprises to develop more connected operations, improve efficiency and expand their IoT footprint globally.
The platform is now commercially available to enterprise customers.
No customer deployments, device numbers or adoption targets were disclosed with the launch.
