Unified Streaming has introduced a content provenance system capable of attaching C2PA credentials to live, on-demand and dynamically assembled video streams immediately before distribution.
Trusted Media is integrated into the Amsterdam-based company’s Origin and Packager products. It can add signed information covering the publisher, source, editorial context and use of AI as content is prepared for delivery to a CDN.
The credentials can subsequently be validated by a compatible player. The approach is intended to preserve provenance when content is clipped, repackaged or combined with advertising, graphics and regional feeds.
Unified Streaming says adding credentials at the packaging stage removes the need to reprocess entire catalogues. It also extends C2PA use beyond static assets to changing live and virtual channel schedules assembled from multiple sources.
C2PA, which is backed by companies including Adobe, Google, Microsoft and the BBC, provides an open technical standard for recording the origin and editing history of digital media. Its Content Credentials do not determine whether a claim made within a video is true, but provide a cryptographically verifiable record of its source and subsequent handling.
“Authenticity signals must be attached to video at the point where content is prepared for distribution,” said Arjen Wagenaar, chief technology officer at Unified Streaming. “As a provider of streaming origin and packaging technology used by broadcasters and platforms worldwide, Unified Streaming sits at a natural infrastructure point to enable this capability.”
WDR/ARD streaming architect Martin Grohme described C2PA as a promising foundation for showing where journalistic video originated and how it had been handled.
The launch follows the application from 2 August 2026 of the EU AI Act’s transparency requirements, including disclosure obligations covering certain AI-generated and manipulated content. Technical standards such as C2PA are emerging as one means of carrying those disclosures through media distribution chains.
Trusted Media will be demonstrated at IBC2026 in Amsterdam in September.
