Zain Jordan and Ericsson have launched the next phase of their business support systems modernisation programme, extending the transformation to the operator’s postpaid business and strengthening its cloud-native IT architecture for 5G monetisation, real-time data operations and more personalised digital services.
The expanded programme deepens the companies’ existing partnership and broadens the BSS transformation across both prepaid and postpaid segments.
The project includes an upgrade of Ericsson Billing on Red Hat OpenShift within Zain Jordan’s private cloud, deployment of Ericsson’s Telco DataOps Platform, and the introduction of catalog and order management capabilities for postpaid products.
Postpaid added to BSS transformation
The latest phase extends the modernisation programme to Zain Jordan’s postpaid line of business, giving the operator a more consistent commercial architecture across customer segments.
The move is intended to support new revenue streams while making it easier for Zain Jordan to introduce and manage new digital services.
For telecom operators, extending BSS modernisation across prepaid and postpaid can reduce fragmentation between customer segments and simplify the way products, billing and service orders are managed.
Billing moves to cloud-native architecture
A central part of the programme is the upgrade of Ericsson Billing on Red Hat OpenShift in Zain Jordan’s private cloud.
The deployment is designed to improve speed, scalability and cost efficiency while providing a more agile foundation for 5G monetisation.
Cloud-native billing can give operators greater flexibility in scaling services and introducing new charging models as their product portfolios become more complex.
For Zain Jordan, the upgrade is part of a wider shift toward a cloud-native IT stack rather than a standalone billing transformation.
Real-time data platform lays groundwork for AI-driven networks
Zain Jordan will also deploy Ericsson’s Telco DataOps Platform.
The platform is intended to support real-time data streaming, proactive customer experience management, network optimisation and data-driven decision-making.
Ericsson and Zain Jordan said the deployment will also help establish the foundations for AI-driven autonomous networks.
That is significant because modern BSS transformation is increasingly converging with network intelligence. Real-time operational and customer data can support more automated decisions across both service delivery and network management.
Catalog-driven architecture aims to accelerate new offers
The programme also includes catalog and order management for postpaid products.
This will introduce a catalog-driven architecture designed to make it faster to launch and manage new offers.
A centralised catalog can help operators define products and services more consistently across channels, reducing the need for separate development work whenever a new proposition is introduced.
This becomes increasingly relevant in a 5G environment where operators may need to support differentiated connectivity services, personalised propositions and more flexible commercial models.

He said moving toward a cloud-native, data-driven architecture would also help establish a future-ready foundation for the 5G era.
