Czech streaming platform Oneplay is preparing to introduce a lower-priced subscription tier carrying advertising as part of a wider overhaul of TV Nova’s advertising sales.
First reported by MediaGuru, Nova plans to announce pricing, the number of subscription options, advertising volumes and other conditions alongside its commercial policy for 2027 this autumn.
The broadcaster is also developing Max Reach, a sales initiative intended to combine advertising inventory and measurement across Nova’s linear channels and Oneplay.
Nova chief executive Daniel Grunt confirmed that the commercial presentation would explain how advertising could be bought across linear television and Oneplay, as well as how audiences would be measured.
As a preliminary step, Nova has told television operators that viewers will no longer be able to skip advertising in catch-up programmes from the middle of November. Grunt described the change as the first stage before Nova begins selling the additional advertising inventory.
The planned subscription model was initially disclosed by Nova digital director Lucie Oravčíková at the Digimedia conference in June. She said Oneplay would retain a clear distinction between paid subscriptions with and without advertising, rather than offering several tiers with different advertising loads.
“It will simply be an additional tier, as Netflix and other streamers have,” Oravčíková said. She ruled out introducing advertising across all subscriptions.
Nova has not confirmed a launch date, although its decision to include details in the 2027 commercial policy indicates that the advertising tier is likely to become available next year.
Oneplay launched in March 2025 through the combination of Nova’s Voyo streaming service and O2 TV. It offers on-demand programming, linear channels and an extensive sports portfolio, including services under the Nova Sport and Oneplay Sport brands.
Advertising already appears within the linear channels distributed by Oneplay. The proposed tier represents a separate development, extending commercial inventory into the platform’s streaming and on-demand environment.
