Proximus selects Bango to power subscription bundling across digital services

Belgian telecom operator Proximus has selected Bango to support subscription bundling across its digital services portfolio, giving customers a more streamlined way to discover, activate and manage third-party subscriptions alongside their existing telecom services.

The agreement will see Proximus use Bango's subscription bundling technology as it expands its digital services strategy beyond traditional connectivity. The approach allows telecom operators to aggregate multiple subscription products within a unified customer experience, simplifying how consumers access and manage entertainment and other digital services.

The partnership reflects a wider shift across the telecom industry as operators seek to become digital service aggregators and use their established billing relationships to capture a greater share of the subscription economy.

Telecom operators are becoming subscription aggregators

Mobile and broadband providers increasingly see subscription aggregation as an opportunity to extend their relationships with customers.

Consumers now maintain subscriptions across streaming, gaming and a growing range of digital services. Bringing these products together through an operator can simplify discovery, activation and management while creating an additional point of differentiation for telecom providers.

For operators, the model provides an opportunity to generate value beyond connectivity without having to develop each digital service internally.

Bundling can simplify fragmented digital subscriptions

The proliferation of subscription services has created an increasingly fragmented experience for consumers.

Users can have multiple billing relationships, renewal dates and account management processes spread across different providers. Subscription hubs seek to reduce that complexity by creating a centralized environment where customers can manage participating services.

For Proximus, integrating subscription management into its wider customer relationship can strengthen the role of its digital channels.

Bango expands its role in telecom subscription commerce

Bango provides technology designed to connect telecommunications operators with subscription-based digital service providers.

Its platform supports the distribution and management of third-party subscription offers through telecom channels, allowing operators to build bundled propositions without individually integrating every service into their technology stacks.

The Proximus agreement extends Bango's presence within the telecommunications sector as operators increasingly look for platforms capable of supporting larger digital service portfolios.

Digital services are becoming more important to telecom strategy

Telecom operators are increasingly diversifying into entertainment, fintech, cybersecurity, cloud and other adjacent digital services as connectivity markets mature.

Subscription bundling provides one route to this diversification by allowing operators to use their customer bases, billing capabilities and digital platforms to distribute services from third-party providers.

The strategy can also support customer retention by creating broader relationships that extend beyond mobile or fixed broadband contracts.
