Ziggo services start on Delta Fiber network August 20

Ziggo will launch services over Delta Fiber’s fiber network from August 20, extending its reach to more than 680,000 additional households.

The agreement covers areas where Ziggo does not have its own network, including Twente, Westland and Zeeland, as well as parts of Gouda, Schiedam and Aalsmeer. It will allow consumers and businesses in those regions to take Ziggo internet and television services.

Stephen van Rooyen, CEO of VodafoneZiggo, said: “This is an important milestone in our strategy to bring our everything network to customers in every corner of the country. Thanks to this partnership, more than 680,000 additional households can now choose the quality of Ziggo.”

He added that customers would also be able to access all Eredivisie football via ESPN channels in Ziggo’s digital TV packages, while Vodafone mobile customers in the new areas would be able to combine mobile and fixed services for discounts.

Delta Fiber CEO Stefan Fuchs said the agreement was another step in the company’s open network strategy.

“When multiple providers use the same network, it is put to better use. And the more brands that are active on it, the more freedom of choice for customers,” he said. “Together with Ziggo, we show that there is no need to lay fibre twice, side by side.”

Delta Fiber’s network reaches 1.7 million households and businesses, with more than 15 telecom providers active on it.

The deal extends Ziggo’s national availability without requiring further network overbuild and strengthens Delta Fiber’s position as an open wholesale fibre platform in the Dutch market.

Last week, Liberty Global completed its acquisition of Vodafone’s 50% stake in VodafoneZiggo, clearing the way for the creation of Ziggo Group.
