Telia has entered into an agreement to acquire the local fiber network Sörpnet in Söderköping Municipality from Eddima Teknik AB.
The acquisition includes approximately 1,000 fiber connections in the urban area and aims to strengthen the digital infrastructure for municipal operations, businesses, and residents in Söderköping – with a focus on secure and robust connectivity.
Sörpnet is a privately owned municipal fiber network with fiber connections to detached houses, apartment buildings, companies, and public-sector organizations in Söderköping. The network has been owned and operated by the family-owned company Eddima Teknik, which is now transferring the business to Telia for continued development and long-term management.
The acquisition is part of Telia’s long-term efforts to strengthen local fiber networks that are central to municipal operations and critical societal functions. This is taking place at a time of increasing demands for cybersecurity, redundancy, and reliability from municipal networks and network providers.
In connection with the acquisition, Eddima Teknik will continue to be responsible for operations and service during a three-year transition period, ensuring local presence and a smooth integration of the network. The transfer will not result in any changes to customers’ existing agreements or terms.
