MUBI has selected Bitmovin as its cloud VOD encoding partner for its streaming platform. Under this deal, Bitmovin’s encoding technology has officially taken over for Mubi’s previous on-premises system. This transition provides the platform with the necessary scalability and speed to support its growing international film collection. The partnership utilizes a managed cloud service that supports UHD, 3-pass encoding, and a multi-codec strategy featuring AVC, HEVC, and AV1 to maintain cinematic-grade visual standards.
The integration was carried out through a strategic collaboration, allowing for a seamless migration of encoding workflows. The move was finalized ahead of the scheduled decommissioning of the old infrastructure, preventing any interruptions in content delivery for Mubi’s subscribers.
