Global AR smart glasses shipments rose 98% in 2025, while second-half shipments jumped 148% from a year earlier, Counterpoint Research said on April 29.
Growth was driven by output expansion at Lokid, the launch of Ray-Ban Display by Meta, and new models from Chinese brands.
Waveguide glasses saw shipments rise more than 600% in 2025. Their share climbed to 38% in the second half from 13% a year earlier.
About 70% of waveguide glasses shipped were AI-enabled with features such as translation, navigation, image recognition, and voice queries, said Counterpoint.
AR glasses are expected to gain traction first as companion devices for daily AI use rather than smartphone replacements, said Counterpoint.
