Amazon has launched a new Fire TV Stick HD, its most compact streaming device to date, as it looks to strengthen its position in the global streaming hardware market.
The device, around 30% slimmer than previous HD models, has been designed for portability and can be powered directly via a TV’s USB port, removing the need for a separate wall adapter.
Priced from $34.99 (€32.30), the Fire TV Stick HD will begin shipping from 29 April across key markets including the United States, UK, Canada and Australia, with additional European rollouts to follow.
Amazon said the device delivers performance improvements of more than 30% compared with the previous generation, alongside support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 to enhance connectivity.
The launch also introduces Amazon’s redesigned Fire TV user interface to the HD tier, offering a more streamlined navigation experience with content categories spanning film, television, live programming and sport.
The new stick includes Alexa+, Amazon’s AI-powered assistant, in the United States, UK and Canada, enabling conversational content discovery and smart home control directly through the TV interface.
Amazon is positioning the device as both an upgrade path for existing HD televisions and a portable streaming solution, reflecting continued demand for low-cost access to connected TV services.
