Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has participated in the First Egyptian Civil Society Forum, a multi-stakeholder platform focused on sustainable development, using the occasion to advance its digital transformation agenda within the country’s non-governmental sector.
The forum was organised by the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development and CARE Egypt under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, bringing together representatives from the National Alliance for Civil Development Work and the Civil Society Support Fund. Discussions highlighted the civil society sector’s role in supporting more than 20 million citizens and its contribution to national development.
MCIT contributed to a panel discussion centred on equipping civil society organisations with digital tools and building the technical capacity required to operate in an increasingly digital environment. The Ministry stressed the importance of integrating digital solutions into NGO operations and investing in skills development for sector stakeholders. Broader forum discussions covered institutional capacity building, access to funding, and the use of data and evidence in decision-making, alongside updates on the NGO Capacity Building Program and the role of the Civil Society Support Fund in providing financial and technical assistance.
