Alfa activates free plan dedicated to distance learning for subscribers

Telecom operator Alfa announced in a statement published the automatic activation of the Free e-Learning plan for all its data subscribers on its network in Lebanon. The company specifies that teachers and students with prepaid or postpaid lines can benefit from it between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Last week, the operator Touch announced a similar initiative in a joint statement with Alfa. This measure comes in response to guidelines from Telecommunications Minister Charles Hajj and a request by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Rima Karameh, aimed at "removing the obstacles faced by the education sector and ensuring continuity of learning."

Since the war between Hezbollah and Israel began on March 2, several schools and universities across Lebanon have temporarily suspended in-person classes or switched to online learning. However, the country suffers from slow, unstable and unreliable internet connections.

This plan includes 20 gigabytes dedicated to distance learning, offering free access to educational platforms such as Microsoft Teams and "Madrasati," as well as other online learning tools designated by the Education Ministry.

Alfa also indicates that prepaid subscribers will receive the full plan for the current month, while postpaid subscribers will receive a prorated amount based on the time remaining in their billing cycle.

The operator adds that the plan will be automatically renewed every 30 days for prepaid lines, and at each new billing cycle for postpaid lines.

Subscribers can monitor their usage by dialing *111*2# and selecting the "Free e-Learning" option.
