Metfone launches solar power system for homes and SMEs

Cambodian telco Metfone announced that it has expanded into the sustainable energy solutions space with the launch of its smart solar power system for households and businesses.

Metfone said the solution intelligently prioritises electricity generated from solar panels during the daytime to power household appliances and business operations. Surplus energy is stored in a dedicated battery system, which can be used in the evening or during peak demand periods.

Metfone said the solution can help customers save on energy costs in the long term by reducing dependence on the national power grid. It can also maintain stable operations during power disruptions, which Metfone said is especially attractive to businesses such as shops, restaurants, clinics and service facilities.

“The launch of the smart solar power system marks an important step in Metfone’s journey to expand beyond traditional telecommunications into digital and green energy solutions,” said a Metfone spokesperson in a statement.

Metfone is offering the solution in three tiered capacity packages: a 6kW combo for average households and small cafés, an 8kW combo for larger households or mini hotels, and a 10kW combo targeting villas and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) such as clinics, schools, or mini supermarkets that that require stable electricity to maintain business operations and protect high-value electronic equipment.

The solar power system offering includes site survey, system design, installation and maintenance.
