Vodafone Oman is accelerating its digital transformation by fully standardizing its IT infrastructure on Red Hat OpenShift, a cloud-native platform. Since launching in 2021, Vodafone Oman has rapidly grown its 5G subscriber base, surpassing one million, and is now moving its workloads—both modern cloud-native applications and legacy virtual machines—onto a unified, high-performance platform.
The move aims to simplify operations, reduce costs, and improve agility. By consolidating multiple IT layers into a single open-source environment, the company can reduce licensing and operational overhead, maximize hardware efficiency, and speed up the deployment of new digital services. Over 60% of its production workloads are already running on Red Hat OpenShift, with a goal to migrate nearly all workloads to a cloud-native architecture by 2028.
Vodafone Oman is also leveraging automation tools like Red Hat Ansible and OpenShift Advanced Cluster Management to streamline operations and enhance observability. In addition, the company is upskilling its teams through Red Hat Services to adopt modern application development practices, DevSecOps workflows, and automated operations.
Looking ahead, Vodafone Oman plans to integrate AI capabilities with Red Hat OpenShift AI to make network and service management more intelligent and proactive, moving away from reactive systems. Overall, this partnership positions Vodafone Oman as a “techco” telecom, blending telecommunications and advanced IT operations to support 5G growth and innovation.
