MTN Government Solutions has entered into a landmark agreement with SpaceX to become an authorised provider of the company’s government satellite connectivity services, a move aimed at strengthening secure, mission-critical communications for defence, government and energy customers worldwide.
The partnership gives MTN access to SpaceX’s advanced low Earth orbit satellite ecosystem, purpose-built to meet stringent security and performance requirements. By integrating these capabilities, MTN will deliver highly secure, low-latency connectivity designed for operations where reliability and protection of sensitive data are essential. The initiative responds to growing demand from public sector and defense organisations seeking resilient communications infrastructure capable of operating in remote and high-risk environments.

Under the arrangement, MTN will provide a specialised service package featuring enhanced cryptographic protections for classified and sensitive operations, resilient connectivity enabled by a large LEO constellation architecture, and tailored mission support capabilities. These include access to modular satellite systems and specialised equipment designed for government and military applications such as secure command-and-control and Earth observation.
As part of the rollout, MTN will introduce a government-adapted version of its Rugged Mini Kit, a portable satellite deployment system engineered for defense and field operations. The new capability builds on the company’s broader connectivity portfolio, including StarEdge Horizon, which delivers private networking services over commercial satellite infrastructure. The SpaceX government ecosystem extends those capabilities with military-grade security and resilience suited for high-assurance use cases.
The services are being deployed immediately across MTN’s government and defense customer base, providing upgraded performance and protection for operations in some of the world’s most demanding environments.
