Starlink, a unit of SpaceX founded by billionaire Elon Musk, has established a Vietnam subsidiary with charter capital of VND30 billion ($1.16 million), marking a formal step into Vietnam’s telecommunications market.
According to corporate registration, Starlink Services Vietnam was incorporated in September 2025 and headquartered in Hanoi, with satellite telecommunications listed as its primary business line.
The entity is wholly owned by Starlink Holdings Netherlands B.V. Lauren Dreyer, SpaceX vice president and head of Starlink global bubsidiaries, is chairwoman, while the general director is Vietnamese national Do Ba Thich, according to registration filings.
The registration follows a series of regulatory approvals paving the way for Starlink’s entry into Vietnam.
In April 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc granted the company a pilot license, making it the first foreign enterprise permitted to trial satellite internet services in Vietnam.
After completing procedural requirements, SpaceX received a license from the Ministry of Science and Technology to provide Starlink satellite internet services. The company also secured a radio frequency and equipment permit from the Authority of Radio Frequency Management.
Under the initial rollout plan, Starlink will deploy four gateway stations and up to 600,000 user terminals. The licensing framework allows the company to build transmission and reception infrastructure without interfering with existing radio communication networks.
Starlink is central to SpaceX’s strategy to expand broadband coverage to remote and underserved areas, including regions lacking fiber-optic infrastructure or affected by natural disasters and conflict. The service is currently available in 125 countries and territories, serving more than five million users globally.
