Mobile subscriptions in Oman increase 7% to 8.05 million

Oman’s total mobile subscriptions grew 7 percent year-on-year to reach 8.05 million by the end of 2025, driven primarily by strong growth in machine-to-machine (M2M) connections, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

M2M subscriptions recorded the fastest expansion, rising 42 percent to 1.63 million, reflecting increasing adoption of IoT applications across industries. Active postpaid subscriptions increased 3 percent to 1.27 million, while prepaid subscriptions saw a modest 1 percent rise to 5.15 million.

Internet connectivity also continued to expand, with active mobile broadband subscriptions reaching 5.42 million, up 1 percent, and fixed broadband subscriptions increasing 3 percent to nearly 599,000. Fibre connections grew strongly, rising 9 percent to 356,897 subscriptions, while fixed 5G subscriptions increased slightly to 219,862.

Legacy technologies continued to decline, with fixed 4G subscriptions falling 53 percent and DSL connections dropping 34 percent, highlighting the market’s transition toward fibre, 5G, and advanced mobile services. Satellite internet subscriptions, although small in number, increased significantly as connectivity demand expanded in remote areas.
