Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has signed an agreement with Oracle to renew technical support for Oracle licenses across government entities for an additional three years, while also expanding dedicated cloud infrastructure through the establishment of a new government cloud region.
The agreement is designed to strengthen the continuity and resilience of government digital services by introducing an integrated backup data center, ensuring uninterrupted operations and improved operational readiness across public sector systems. The move builds on earlier collaboration between the two parties, including the launch of Qatar’s first dedicated government cloud region in February 2024.
The new Oracle Dedicated Cloud Region will support a range of government initiatives by providing Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, cloud applications and artificial intelligence capabilities. The platform is expected to accelerate digital transformation efforts, modernise government services and enable innovation across public sector entities.
In addition to improving scalability and service reliability, the expanded cloud infrastructure will enhance data protection, strengthen cybersecurity preparedness and support the operational requirements of AI-driven solutions. The agreement forms part of Qatar’s broader strategy to develop advanced digital infrastructure and reinforce the foundations of its digital economy.
