Oman took part in the 29th session of the Arab Council of Ministers of Communications and Information, held in Cairo, with its delegation headed by Ambassador Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi.
Al Rahbi, Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, represented Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali at the meeting. In his address, he stressed the importance of strengthening joint Arab cooperation, particularly in the field of cybersecurity, amid rising global cyber threats targeting digital infrastructure and information systems.
He highlighted Oman’s progress across communications and information technology, including broadband and fibre-optic expansion, digital government services, data governance frameworks, and investments in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
The meeting reviewed key regional digital challenges and approved the establishment of a dedicated Arab committee on artificial intelligence to coordinate efforts across the region and strengthen collective digital readiness.
