Google Cloud’s Bangkok cloud region is open for business

Google Cloud launched its new Bangkok cloud region, with three availability zones offering customers in Thailand access to in-country Google Cloud services and AI technologies.

The Bangkok cloud region is integrated with Google’s global network, which will eventually include the recently announced TalayLink subsea cable that will connect Australia and Thailand.

In a blog post, Google Cloud said its network will allow Thai businesses looking to expand into new markets to move large amounts of data quickly, securely, and cost-effectively between 43 Google Cloud regions internationally, their own on-premises data centres, or other cloud environments like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

Google Cloud also said the new cloud region will help the public sector and regulated industries like financial services comply with data residency requirements, while its three zones provide greater resiliency for mission-critical systems.

The Bangkok region also gives customers an on-ramp to Google Cloud’s enterprise AI capabilities such as its Vertex AI development platform to build and deploy agentic solutions using Gemini 3. Organizations can also use Gemini Enterprise, Google Cloud’s central platform for AI agents to streamline business workflows.

Google Cloud launched its PanyaThAI programme in November 2025 specifically to help more Thai organizations leverage its enterprise AI capabilities and transformation blueprint to accelerate their implementation of agentic AI solutions.

“With access to Google Cloud’s leading cloud and AI technologies, we’re giving Thai organizations a foundation for growth in the AI era, allowing them to innovate faster with greater control over their data,” said Karthik Narain, chief product and business officer at Google Cloud.

Google Cloud also said the new cloud region is expected to contribute THB1.4 trillion (US$41 billion) in economic value to Thailand over the next five years and support an average of 130,000 jobs per year.

The Bangkok cloud region has been in the works since September 2024, when Google promised to invest THB36 billion (US$1 billion) to build its first data centre and cloud region in Thailand to meet growing demand for connectivity services and foster the development of AI in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, Google Cloud also announced that Thai developers have completed more than 110,000 hands-on training labs through its ChaiyoGCP program, with over 70% of them, focused on AI. ChaiyoGCP plans to increase the number of completed labs to at least 125,000 in the first half of 2026 through further engagements with six Google developer groups in Thailand.
