Digicel Samoa said that it has expanded its 5G coverage in Apia with five new sites, for a total of 25 5G sites deployed in the city and its surrounding suburbs.
The new sites are part of Digicel Samoa’s WST23 million (US$8.3 million) investment in network upgrades across Upolu and Savaii. That includes 19 5G and 13 LTE base stations deployed last year.
With the new sites strategically placed in key urban, residential, and industrial areas, customers in those areas can access fast internet, improved streaming, next-level gaming, and greater access to digital services, said Digicel Samoa CEO Karl Vizvary.
“With more 5G sites, we’re helping to provide Samoans with access to a faster, more reliable network they can use for work, play, and everything in between,” he said in a statement.
Digicel Samoa commercially launched the island’s first 5G service in July 2024 with five 5G sites in the Apia CBD.
