OpenText has opened its Middle East regional headquarters in Riyadh, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Saudi Arabia and the region’s fast-growing digital economy. The move positions the Canadian technology leader at the heart of a market increasingly defined by AI, data sovereignty, and enterprise transformation.
The inauguration was marked by a visit from Canada’s Minister of International Trade and Economic Development, Maninder Sidhu, alongside Canada’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Jean-Philippe Linteau. Minister Sidhu described the opening as a milestone in the strengthening relationship between Canada and Saudi Arabia, highlighting the role Canadian innovation can play in supporting digital transformation across high-growth markets.
As Riyadh emerges as a global centre for economic and technological leadership, Saudi Arabia is reshaping how enterprises approach data, AI, and digital infrastructure. OpenText’s local presence aligns with the Kingdom’s ambitions to lead in enterprise AI, security, and data-driven growth—while preserving sovereignty, trust, and regulatory compliance.
Located in the King Abdullah Financial District, the new headquarters will act as a central hub for OpenText’s customers and partners across the Middle East. It enables closer collaboration with government and private-sector organisations as they move from AI experimentation to secure, enterprise-scale deployment.
Muhi Majzoub, EVP Cybersecurity at OpenText, said the Riyadh base reflects the company’s commitment to responsible and secure AI adoption. He noted that OpenText helps organisations turn trusted data into intelligence, supporting innovation, resilience, and long-term growth across the region.
The headquarters strengthens OpenText’s ability to provide localized expertise and faster support for customers navigating evolving data sovereignty, security, and compliance requirements. The company plans to expand its local workforce, build strategic partnerships, and deepen engagement with government entities—developing solutions aligned with Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification goals.
George Schembri, Vice President and General Manager for the Middle East at OpenText, said the Kingdom’s focus on AI and digital transformation presents a powerful opportunity for organisations to unlock value from their information. With OpenText on the ground in Riyadh, customers gain direct access to global expertise combined with local insight, enabling them to manage information securely, scale AI with confidence, and compete globally.
Through its expanded Saudi presence, OpenText aims to accelerate digital transformation across the Middle East, strengthen information security, and help organisations turn data into a sustainable competitive advantage—contributing to the region’s growing knowledge-based economy.
