Nepal Telecom (NTC) has launched 4G mobile broadband services in Simbokpa hill, located in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality of Sankhuwasabha district, extending high-speed connectivity to one of Nepal’s remote mountainous regions. The deployment enables local residents, businesses, government agencies, and tourists to access reliable data services and improved voice quality.
The 4G service was activated through the installation of a new 4G tower, completed with the support of multiple stakeholders. The deployment team included telecom engineer Ashish Acharya, Ward No. 2 Chairperson Jippa Bhote, Nepal Army personnel, and local residents. Nepal Telecom said the installation was successfully completed despite challenging terrain and difficult geographic conditions.
NTC also announced plans to extend modern communication services to the Kimathanka area of Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-1 in the coming days. With the launch of 4G in Simbokpa, users can now benefit from true mobile broadband and HD voice services through NTC’s VoLTE technology.
The expansion aligns with Nepal Telecom’s national objective of connecting remote and underserved areas, even where commercial returns are limited. According to the company, 4G coverage has now reached more than 98% of local levels nationwide, with full coverage expected by the end of fiscal year 2082/83. NTC aims to complete nationwide 4G rollout before introducing 5G services in major cities such as Kathmandu and Pokhara.
