Saudi Arabia launches digital crime investigation system in Jeddah

Saudi Arabia has launched a new electronic and organizational system to modernize criminal investigations and evidence collection in the Al-Husayniyah area of Jeddah, as part of broader reforms led by the Ministry of Interior. Announced on December 22, 2025, the initiative introduces a unified digital platform that connects police stations, crime scenes, and relevant authorities to improve the speed, accuracy, and coordination of investigations.

The system enables real-time information and evidence sharing, reducing delays associated with traditional investigative processes. Officials said the platform is designed to digitize and standardize evidence collection, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and support faster case resolution. The Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation confirmed that the system integrates investigative tools and police units to ensure rapid and coordinated responses across the district.

Alongside the technology rollout, authorities have introduced new administrative measures requiring property owners in Al-Husayniyah to submit official documentation to ensure accurate and compliant records. Property owners must present deeds, building permits, and identification by the Hijri deadline of 20/7/1447. Municipal teams have begun issuing review notices on targeted buildings, with owners required to report to the General Department for Violations within 15 days of notification. For properties without formal deeds, temporary documentation through the Ehkam platform is permitted.

Officials said the measures aim to enhance data reliability, strengthen public safety, and support modern law enforcement operations in rapidly growing urban areas. The Al-Husayniyah deployment is expected to serve as a model for similar digital crime investigation systems across the Kingdom.
