Synamedia extends YES deal as Partner Communications prepares new streaming service

Synamedia has extended its long-standing agreement with YES, the pay-TV arm of Israeli operator Bezeq, in a move that will also support YES’s collaboration with Partner Communications on the launch of a new TV service.

Under the arrangement, YES will supply a version of its Sting+ app, built on Synamedia’s OTT, cloud and SaaS technologies, and will also acquire content on Partner’s behalf. Existing Partner Communications TV customers will be upgraded to a new Partner+ app featuring Partner branding and updated user experiences.

YES said Sting+ sits alongside its YES+ premium service.

Synamedia said its multi-tenant cloud architecture enables multiple brands to be created on a single platform in a secure environment, allowing operators to scale streaming services efficiently, including for different providers within the same market.

The Partner+ service will use Synamedia’s streaming platform, including Synamedia Go Experience Manager, to support editorial curation and personalised viewing. Synamedia Go is positioned as a modular SaaS OTT video platform, and the deployment will also include FluidEdge CDN, security and disaster recovery capabilities.

“Our partnership with Synamedia has evolved over decades and we continue to collaborate with them to bring the latest innovations to our subscribers while supporting our transition from satellite to IP,” said Itzhak Elyakim, VP of Engineering and CTO at YES. He added that the Partner agreement required assurance the platform can support multiple operating companies with “the highest level of security”.

Dr Tzvi Gerstl, EVP of Media Technology at Synamedia, said the deal demonstrates how telcos can expand TV services “beyond organic growth” by using a proven multi-operator platform that supports brand customisation and content aggregation.
