Pakistan is entering a decisive phase of technological evolution as artificial intelligence reshapes global industries and services. Zong, a wholly owned subsidiary of China Mobile Communications Corporation and a key player in Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, has announced a comprehensive AI+ Plan aimed at accelerating the country’s digital transformation through responsible, scalable, and future-oriented AI adoption.
Positioned at the intersection of Pakistan’s national development priorities and China Mobile’s global technological leadership, Zong’s AI+ Plan is closely aligned with the China Mobile Group AI+ Strategy, which focuses on building a world-class information and technology innovation enterprise. It also reflects the objectives of Pakistan’s National Artificial Intelligence Policy 2025, which is structured around six pillars: AI innovation ecosystem, awareness and readiness, secure AI ecosystem, transformation and evolution, AI infrastructure, and international partnerships.
Zong’s approach translates these policy pillars into practical implementation. The plan places strong emphasis on intelligent transformation built on robust digital foundations, including the expansion of high-performance computing capacity, large-scale storage, and advanced data lake technologies. These investments are designed to support enterprise-level AI training and deployment while reinforcing Zong’s role as a provider of advanced connectivity and computing capabilities in Pakistan.
Network evolution is another central element of the AI+ Plan. Zong is integrating AI-driven network management to enhance reliability and reduce latency across existing 4G services, while supporting the transition to 5G and laying groundwork for future generations. The objective is to develop increasingly autonomous networks capable of real-time resource allocation to meet the growing demands of industrial and consumer applications.
The plan also includes the establishment of a Comprehensive AI Capabilities Hub that brings together machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, intelligent computing infrastructure, and large-model capabilities. This hub is designed to serve as a unified platform for developing, testing, and deploying AI solutions across the enterprise, enabling faster adoption of advanced and generative AI applications across multiple sectors.
