Qatar’s government officials and industry experts outlined the country’s expanding digital roadmap during a panel at MWC25 Doha, highlighting how innovation, smart technologies and cross-sector integration are transforming national services and improving overall efficiency, sustainability and user experience.
The session, titled “Digital Roadmap for Smart Sectors”, took place under the Smart Cities Expo Doha, a two-day event exploring how digital solutions can reshape Middle Eastern cities into sustainable and highly livable environments.
Panelists included Hind Saleh Hassan, Head of Quality at the Ministry of Municipality; Noura Al Dosari, Director of the Digital Transformation Office at the Ministry of Transport; Barbara Zimmer, Director of Digital Experience and Products at Qatar Tourism; and Himanshu Kakkar, Senior Expert in Digital Health Applications at the Ministry of Public Health.
Speakers highlighted the rapid acceleration of digital transformation across critical sectors such as tourism, healthcare, transportation and logistics. They emphasized the growing reliance on smart applications, interactive platforms and personalized digital services—many of which leverage geographic and spatial data to provide more seamless user experiences.
In healthcare, officials noted ongoing efforts to create integrated data systems that unify patient information, enabling more sustainable care, improved diagnostics and greater treatment accuracy. Meanwhile, the transport and tourism sectors are advancing smart mobility systems, traffic prediction tools and digital platforms that help users explore destinations more efficiently.
Participants stressed that artificial intelligence is becoming a cornerstone of Qatar’s digital future, supporting operational efficiency and reducing human error across industries. They also highlighted the rising importance of cross-sector alignment, predicting that Qatar’s next phase will go beyond digital transformation toward full system-level integration across government and key industries.
Linked data ecosystems and unified digital infrastructure records, they added, will unlock stronger decision-making, advance collaboration between sectors and elevate service quality across the country.
