Qatar Airways has passed a major milestone in its in-flight connectivity program, with more than 100 aircraft now equipped with SpaceX’s Starlink satellite Wi-Fi. The upgrade enables passengers to enjoy high-speed, low-latency internet access from gate to gate — a breakthrough in enhancing long-haul travel experiences.
Over 50% of Qatar Airways’ widebody fleet is already Starlink-enabled, covering Boeing 777s and now expanding across Airbus A350s. The airline says more than 30,000 flights have offered Starlink service since the rollout began in late 2024.
Emirates is also joining the shift to next-generation connectivity, with the first Starlink-equipped Boeing 777-300ER showcased at the Dubai Airshow. The Dubai-based carrier intends to outfit its entire fleet by mid-2027, ensuring long-haul passengers benefit from seamless access to high-bandwidth applications including streaming, video conferencing, and cloud services.
Both carriers say real-time data delivery via Starlink will also support improved operational efficiency, system monitoring, and customer service — offering operational value alongside a better passenger experience.
