InfraX, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA (the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ericsson at GITEX Global 2025 to accelerate the digital transformation of the UAE’s utility sector through IoT and automation innovations.
The agreement builds on an existing collaboration between the two organizations, focused on modernizing utility operations through advanced connectivity and digital infrastructure. Under the MoU, InfraX and Ericsson will co-develop IoT and automation use cases, exchange technical expertise, and deliver scalable, future-ready solutions to enhance operational efficiency and enable smart, sustainable utilities.
InfraX, which holds a special-purpose IoT license in the UAE, plays a key role in powering DEWA’s digital ecosystem and enabling commercial IoT networks and services for external enterprises. Ericsson brings its global experience in network automation, mission-critical connectivity, and digital innovation to strengthen this collaboration.
Rashid Alahmedi, COO of InfraX, emphasized that partnerships like this are essential for advancing Dubai’s mission of digital transformation, noting that combining InfraX’s robust infrastructure with Ericsson’s technology expertise will create a secure and intelligent ecosystem for the future of utilities.
Petra Schirren, Head of Ericsson GCC, added that the MoU reaffirms Ericsson’s commitment to partnering on digital transformation initiatives that deliver long-term societal value, with a focus on co-developing utility-specific applications and scalable digital solutions.
The partnership will serve as a foundation for broader innovation across the UAE’s utility sector, creating pathways for sustainable growth and next-generation smart grid technologies.
