Roku leans into new services and AI features as Q3 tops guidance

Roku beat its own outlook for Q3 2025, posting revenue of $1.211 billion (€1.13bn) and positive operating income “ahead of schedule and for the first time since 2021,” according to founder and CEO Anthony Wood and CFO/COO Dan Jedda.

The pair added they are “confident” of delivering double-digit Platform revenue growth while increasing operating margins in 2026 and beyond.

New products and services dominated the update. Roku formally introduced Howdy, an owned-and-operated ad-free SVOD priced at $2.99 (€2.74) per month and carrying close to 10,000 hours of studio TV and films alongside Roku Originals. Roku says Howdy “fills a white space” as a low-cost complement to other subscriptions.

Across the Roku OS, the company is “leveraging AI to transform Roku Voice from a simple command tool into an intelligent entertainment guide,” adding conversational answers on-screen, a “Trending in Search” carousel, expanded search into Live TV destinations, and AI-generated “Why to Watch” blurbs on title pages. Roku also highlighted upgrades to its Sports experience (NFL Zone, live college scores, game reminders and mobile sync), which it has now launched in Mexico.

Within The Roku Channel (FAST), Roku said it remained the #2 app on its platform by engagement in the United STates and reached #3 by global reach in Q3, citing Nielsen’s The Gauge at a 6.2% share of US TV streaming time in September. New FAST feeds included The First 48, Shark Tank, NYPD Blue and the first Dick Wolf-universe Law & Order channel, while original Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross integrated shoppable ad formats.

On advertising and distribution, Roku expanded integrations with third-party demand and measurement platforms and reported rising programmatic execution of video impressions and momentum in its self-serve Ads Manager for SMBs and performance marketers.

In devices and OEM partnerships, Roku said it maintained #1 TV OS share in the United States, Canada and Mexico, announced the first Philips Roku TV with Ambilight for the US, and moved into smart projectors with Aurzen’s D1R Cube and a Vankyo model at Walmart.
