Telecom operator du has unveiled its enhanced 5G+ network, marking a major step toward advancing the UAE’s smart city and digital innovation goals, according to Karim Benkirane, Chief Commercial Officer of du.
The new 5G+ service promises to deliver up to twice the speed of the existing 5G network, offering users a superior experience across downloads, video calls, gaming, streaming, and real-time AI applications.
“When it comes to enterprise, 5G+ will help enable the government to deliver the UAE’s agendas — from smart cities to sustainability,” said Benkirane. “It will also help start-ups to innovate, creating an ecosystem where our technology empowers partners to shape the future.”
Initially available across key landmarks and downtown areas in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and other emirates, 5G+ coverage will expand nationwide before the end of 2025. The enhanced service supports compatible devices and SIMs, enabling faster speeds, lower latency, and improved connectivity for high-performance applications.
5G+, an evolution of 5G technology, offers significantly enhanced performance and real-time responsiveness. The “+” signifies the network’s advanced capability — a next-generation upgrade that has already been deployed in markets such as the United States, where AT&T introduced early versions in 2021.
According to du, the technology will be particularly valuable for AI-driven creators, developers, and businesses, enabling seamless collaboration and innovation in areas like autonomous mobility, IoT, and immersive digital experiences.
At du’s iPhone 17 launch event, Benkirane also noted that demand for the latest Apple devices remains strong, driven by early adopters eager to experience the full potential of 5G+.
