U Mobile has signed its first 5G and 4G wholesale access agreement with Eastel, a new Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) under Anchor Communications, which is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2026.
The five-year deal will enable Eastel to utilise U Mobile’s next generation 5G infrastructure and 4G network for data, voice, and SMS services, as well as international direct dialling (IDD), roaming, and mobile number portability.
U Mobile said the partnership marks a milestone as the company continues expanding its 5G network, which is projected to reach 80% coverage of populated areas by the second half of next year.
With the agreement in place, Eastel will leverage U Mobile’s network to deliver targeted mobile solutions for niche segments, particularly the gig and creator economy.
U Mobile plans to announce more 4G and 5G wholesale access agreements in the coming months to further drive competition and support Malaysia’s digital economy.
