Vi Business, AWS, C-DOT launch IoT innovation lab for enterprises

Vodafone Idea’s enterprise arm, Vi Business, said that it is partnering with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) to launch an IoT Innovation Lab to help enterprises develop solutions for things like connected vehicles, smart manufacturing and enterprise automation.

The new IoT lab in Mumbai aims to help start-ups, device makers, and enterprises design, test, and scale industry-grade IoT use cases across sectors such as BFSI (banking, financial services, and insurance), IT and IT-enabled services, utilities, logistics, manufacturing, retail, governance, healthcare and smart cities.

Vi Business said the lab will also offer demos of use cases like connected vehicles, smart grid solutions for energy optimization and real-time monitoring for manufacturing, as well as future-looking applications like edge AI, in which AI models run directly on local edge devices rather than in a data centre.

Arvind Nevatia, chief enterprise business officer for Vodafone Idea, said the lab will leverage Vi’s connectivity, AWS’ global cloud capabilities and C-DOT’s IoT standards expertise to help users accelerate time-to-market, reduce costs, and improve efficiencies.

“Together, we aim to transform India’s IoT landscape, empowering enterprises with new opportunities for innovation and contributing to India’s digital growth,” Nevatia said in a statement. “As enterprises increasingly adopt AI, 5G and IoT they require more than just connectivity they need a trusted partner to deliver measurable business outcomes, and we are ready to enable businesses to scale securely, innovate faster and transform with confidence.”

Vi Business said the lab was established in response to steep growth in India’s IoT industry, with the national IoT device market estimated to grow at a CAGR of 23.2% from US$2.89 billion in revenues in 2024 to US$10.28 billion by 2030. India’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade has recognised over 159,000 startups as of 2025, many of them working on IoT, AI and digital applications.
