Grameenphone’s Sylhet data centre showcased as key driver of Bangladesh’s digital transformation

Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, visited Grameenphone's Tier III-certified Data Centre in Sylhet on Saturday.

During the visit, he praised the facility's robust design, high-quality equipment, and advanced operational standards. He commended the skilled on-site team and automated monitoring systems that ensure secure and seamless operations.

Bangladesh's digital transformation journey requires world-class infrastructure. This Data Centre reflects the forward-looking vision of building a technologically advanced Bangladesh with reliable, sustainable, and future-ready digital solutions," Taiyeb said.

He was accompanied by Abdun Naser Khan, Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Division, and senior officials, including Anwar Masud of BTCL and Md Abdur Raihan of Grameenphone.

Grameenphone's Sylhet Super Core Data Centre, inaugurated last year, is the largest among mobile network operators (MNOs) in the country. The modular facility emphasises sustainability through energy efficiency, eco-friendly fire suppression systems, and robust data protection measures.

"The government values initiatives where the private sector contributes cutting-edge infrastructure that supports the country's ambition of becoming a global digital hub," said Secretary Abdun Naser Khan.

Md Abdur Raihan of Grameenphone added: "This facility demonstrates our commitment to reliability, sustainability, and technological excellence in Bangladesh's telecom sector."
