Kalaam Telecom Group is celebrating the first anniversary of its Kalaam Iraq Transit route, a pioneering project launched in partnership with the Iraqi Informatics and Telecommunication Public Company (ITPC).
Over the past year, the initiative has established itself as a vital terrestrial alternative for routing data traffic between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Europe. By leveraging Iraq’s geographic position, the route provides a strategic complement to existing subsea cables, enhancing network resilience, reducing latency, and diversifying international connectivity options for carriers and enterprises across the region.
Kalaam Telecom highlighted that the route has not only improved reliability for cross-border data traffic but also positioned Iraq as a key transit hub in global telecommunications infrastructure. The project aligns with broader regional efforts to strengthen digital economies and support the growing demand for high-capacity, low-latency connectivity between the Middle East and Europe.
