The number of new fiber-optic connections by Deutsche Telekom in May was 22 percent higher year-on-year, at 232,000 households and businesses passed with FTTP. This was the first time this year that it has surpassed 200,000 new fibre lines built in a single month. Now, 10.9 million households and firms can sign up for a fibre-optic plan enabling broadband at up to 2 Gbps.
Over 37 million households have access to plans at up to 100 Mbps on the Telekom network in Germany, of which over 31.5 million can opt for a connection at up to 250 Mbps.
In May, as part of its partnership with Gigabit Region Stuttgart, Deutsche Telekom won contracts to supply fibre through thirteen projects funded with public money in the district of Goeppingen. Telekom will connect more than 530 underserved households, four schools and six commercial areas to broadband in nine municipalities in the district. The company has also started to expand the fibre network in the municipality of Geislingen an der Steige, among other new projects.
