All schools in the Governorate of Buraimi are now connected to high-speed Internet, according to the latest services report of Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).
The authority confirmed that 100% of schools in the governorate are now covered – 15 schools via fiber optics and 16 via 5G technology.
In the residential sector, 85% of homes are now covered by fixed broadband services via 5G and 71% through fiber optics, while 53 villages are served via satellite technology.
The figures were released during a visit of Omar bin Hamdan al Ismaili, CEO of TRA, who reviewed the governorate’s telecom service needs.
A TRA official noted a sharp rise in the number of 5G stations in Buraimi – from 28 in 2020 to 178 in 2024 marking an increase of nearly 500%. The number of 4G stations also rose significantly – from 143 in 2020 to 310 in 2024 – an increase of 117%.
In 2024, the authority carried out 32 projects in the governorate, including installation of 25 new telecom towers, expansion of fiber optic network and upgrading six stations to support 5G services.
