Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) and Google Cloud have launched a powerful new upskilling initiative designed to enhance the expertise of artificial intelligence (AI) leaders in the emirate and fast-track Dubai’s AI ambitions. This move aligns with Dubai’s Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence and was unveiled during Dubai AI Week.
The initiative will see Chief AI Officers (CAIOs) appointed across Dubai government entities, with these leaders gaining access to Google Cloud’s comprehensive suite of applied AI tools, training programs, and strategic insights. This support will empower them to lead impactful AI deployments, accelerate innovation, and create tangible value within their respective entities.
Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of DFF, highlighted Dubai’s global leadership in AI, emphasizing that one year after the introduction of CAIOs, Dubai now has them in place across all government sectors. He reaffirmed DFF’s commitment to forming international partnerships that help these leaders remain at the forefront of one of the fastest-evolving fields.
Ziad Jammal, General Manager for Google Cloud UAE, Levant, and North Africa, noted that the timing of this initiative was crucial. “Investing in the capabilities of Dubai’s Chief AI Officers is key to ensuring the future resilience of the government and solidifying the UAE’s position as a global innovation hub,” he said.
With the new program, Dubai is setting the stage for a transformative impact across sectors, striving to secure a top 10 spot on the Global Government AI Readiness Index. The collaboration aims to ensure that government leaders have the tools, knowledge, and insight necessary to scale AI responsibly and maximize its potential for societal benefit.
