United Group has launched Nova TV in Greece, replacing the EON brand as it continues the regional rollout of its third-generation television and entertainment platform.
The service launched following deployments with Telemach in Slovenia and Vivacom in Bulgaria. Further launches through Telemach in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro are planned over the coming months.
Developed in-house by United Cloud, the platform combines AI-powered content discovery with a redesigned electronic programme guide. It provides a common technology base for United Group’s operators, while allowing each to offer television under its own brand.
Nova TV introduces a refreshed interface, enhanced search and navigation, personalised profiles and recommendations. Features also include Sports Mode, seven-day catch-up, Continue Watching and Visitor Mode.
The service is available through both a Smart Box and an app, with a consistent experience across compatible devices. United Group sees app-based delivery as a way to reduce reliance on set-top boxes and installation visits, allowing customers to start watching within minutes.
Speaking at the wider platform announcement in September, United Group CEO Stan Miller said: “The app will remove the need for a set-top box in many homes, which is a real advantage for our operators and for their customers, who can be watching within minutes instead of waiting for an installation.”
The underlying platform uses AI and machine learning to adapt recommendations to individual household profiles, with an option to disable personalisation in privacy settings.
United Group is also making the platform available to telecoms providers worldwide, enabling operators outside the group to launch television and entertainment services under their own brands.
